Summary

The CBX 1000 held in Museum Victoria's collection is the 11th (Frame no. 2000011 & Engine no. 2000011) example of 42 pre-production machines built in Japan in 1977. It was the only pre-production machine bought to Australia and was used for display and publicity purposes before commercial release in 1978. It was donated to the Museum by Honda Australia Pty Ltd in 1983. Two pre-production CBX 1000 motorcycles exist in Canada and two more are in Norway.

Physical Description

Silver motor cycle with silver, orange and black lettering on tank. Front silver fender, black rear fender. Single round headlight, round orange indicators and round side mirrors. Rectangular red taillight and round orange indicators at rear. Black leather seat. Six cylinder, 1,047 cc, 105 hp, double overhead cam, 24 valve, five speed transmission.
