Single barrelled shotgun, 16 gauge .656. Flintlock, converted from snaphaunce. Barrel (made in Italy) 40 1/2 in. (1029 mm.) long, 14 1/2 in. (368 mm) rear portion octagonal.
Made by Joseph Griffin, London (active 1750-1782), circa 1770.
Physical Description
V notch back sight has been added, sighting groove in tang, steel blade foresight. ornamental side plate, walnut stock extends to muzzle, butt jointed 32 in. (813 mm) from muzzle, brass tipped wooden ramrod, steel escutcheon, engraved mounts.
