Summary

Percussion pistol, cal. 56 bore (.437). Muzzle loading, smooth bore, octagonal barrel 4 1/2 in. (114 mm.) long with two platinum breech bands, "V" notch backsight, bead foresight, barrel tang broken, o. a. length 8 1/8 in. (206 mm).

Made by Joseph Westwood, Birmingham, circa 1840. Westwood was a Birmingham maker who often marked his guns as made in London.

Physical Description

Side lock (back action) & hammer, oval steel trigger guard. wooden stock extends to muzzle, chequered grip, rounded butt with nickel silver cap recess, oval silver monogram plate, ramrod missing.
