Flintlock pistol, pair, cal. 25 bore (approx. .570), screw off brass smoothbore cannon barrel, 17.60cm long.
Marked as made by H. Nock, London. Henry Nock (1741-1804) was a notable London gunsmith and became Master of the Gunmaker's Company in 1802. This pistol is probably a contemporary forgery from the Birmingham gun trade.
Physical Description
Box lock barss action with steel sliding safety catch and hammer, engraved military accoutrements on both sides of lock, Oval steel triggerguard with floral motif. Wooden flat sided grips, broken on boths sides, part missing from right hand side.
