Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver, late or typical London model. Cal. .36 inch, rifled octagonal barrel 190 mm (7 1/2 inch) long with loading lever attached.

Made by Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Co., London, England, serial number 34798, 1853.

The features of this example show it to be an example of a London model Navy, produced in London with English manufactured components. The London factory closed in early 1857 after just over three years.

Physical Description

Six chambered cylinder engraved with naval battle scene, large rounded steel trigger guard, steel frame, steel London style back strap, London style wooden grips, thin loading level catch, pin style front sight. Knurling on hammer is of typical London style framed in an inverted 'U'. Barrel address is London-London address, as opposed to the Hartford-London address. Serial number 34796. Serial number falls into the range allocated for London models in their first year of production and suggests a production year of 1853.
