Gilt brass shoulder board, Italian army. Featuring a design of a winged wheel with pneumatic tyre, it was probably worn by a member of the motorised unit, issued to non-commissioned officers and privates for guard, parade and special duties. The shoulder board was souvenired in 1941 by Ormond Knight Chalinor 2/5 Battalion AIF.

Lance Bombardier Chalinor was killed in New Guinea on 20 May 1943 serving with the 2/2 Australian Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment. He had formerly been employed at the Royal Mint in Melbourne.

Embossed design of crown/winged wheel with phneumatic tyre & tasselled cords. Three rings for securing to uniform (one missing).
