Marked as made by 'Egg, London.' Joseph Egg was a leading London gunsmith. This pistol is probably a contemporary forgery from the Birmingham gun trade.
Physical Description
Muzzle loading, smooth bore, octagonal twist steel barrel 6 5/8 in. (169 mm) long, V notch backsight, bead foresight, overall length 12 in. (305 mm.). Side lock (back action) & hammer, oval steel trigger guard with pineapple forward extension. Wooden stock horn tipped extends almost to muzzle, chequered grip, oval silver monogram plate, swivel ramrod (tail pipe missing).
