Summary
Flintlock blunderbuss, cal. 29mm at muzzle, steel smooth bore round bellmouthed damascus barrel, 36.00cm long, with sprung triangular bayonet, 27.60cm long, mounted on barrel upper, bayonet catch at muzzle missing. Made by John Twigg, London, circa 1780.
Physical Description
Steel side lock and swan-necked hammer with sliding saftey catch on R.H. side, brass oval triggerguard with pineapple extensions and foliate engraving, no sideplate and brass butt plate. Barrel secured by two barrel keys, two brass ramrod tubes, horn tipped wooden ramrod. Wooden stock extends to muzzle, wrist chequered, vacant nickel silver escutchen behind tang, split in stock lower through both sides.
