Summary
Flintlock pocket pistol with folding spring bayonet, cal. 55 bore (approx. .437), screw off brass smoothbore barrel, 7.60 cm long. Made by John Bass, London, circa 1770.
Physical Description
Box lock brass action with steel sliding safety catch, hammer and frizzen, engraved on both sides of lock with an oval frame surmounted by drapery. Round steel triggerguard and trigger. Wooden flat sided grips, probably walnut, with small chip in R.H.side. Bayonet is released by sliding the entire triggerguard backwards and locked in place at the muzzle with a sprung catch.
