Percussion revolver, Bentley & Sons self cocking revolver, cal. .426 (60 bore). Rifled (18 grooves) octagonal barrel 7 11/16 in. (195 mm) long.
Made by Jospeh Bentley & Sons, Liverpool, circa 1855.
Fitted wooden case lined with green baize has brass monogram plate on lid. J. Bentley & Sons label inside lid of case.
Physical Description
Barrel screwed to cylinder pin & secured by a thumb screw to the bottom strap. Five chambered cylinder open bronze frame, oval bronze trigger guard, wooden grips, spring safety catch missing from hammer. Frame engraved with foliate scrolls. Accessories include: powder flask, stamped "C & J. W. Hawksley", bullet mould, stamped "No. 60", cleaning rod, tin containing percussion caps. bentley & sons, 1840- 1858.
