Single barrelled shotgun, 16 gauge .656. Twist steel barrel 32 1/2 in. (825 mm) long. Flintlock.
Marked as being made by Joseph Manton, London. However, this gun is believed to be the work of Thomas Manly, a London gunsmith, in the period 1920-1930.
Physical Description
Gold touch hole and breech band. Double necked cock, water tight flash pan with fence, hand hold guard bow, nickel silver foresight. Walnut stock extends to rib under barrel, chequered at grip and tipped with silver at fore end, wooden ramrod with screw end. Engraved mounts, lock plate bears head of a hunting dog in gold.
