Kaypro Model 4 microcomputer. Comprises separable keyboard and VDU/disk drive package with two 5 1/4 inch disk drives and 9 inch (diagonal) green monochrome cathode ray tube screen. Mains operated. Runs CP/M operating system. Based on Z80a microprocessor chip. Made by Kaypro Corporation in California, United States of America in 1981.

Disk drives have 400 kilobytes (8 bit words) capacity each. 64 kilobytes of RAM (random access memory), printer port ("Centronics") and two RS-232C serial ports on rear of unit. Weight is 26 pounds. Display is 25 lines by 80 characters. Two cotton covers, and keyboard template for "Wordstar/mail merge".

Physical Description

Monitor & Disk Drives: Dark grey metal case with two dives and a monitor in the front panel. Rear has various input and outpur dconnectors, and carrying handle, with blue, white edged cover. Disk drives have cardboard transport- safe cards inserted. The keyboard fits onto the front, for ease of carrying. Keyboard: Grey (two tones) metal cased QWERTY keyboard with number pad, with blue, white edged, cover.
