Summary

Magic lantern readings in the form of a booklet, featuring 'Aladdin and the Magic Lantern. A New Version of an Old Story' for use during a magic lantern presentation. During a presentation, the story was read and slides projected at certain pre-determined times. Instructions as to when to project a slide appear within the text. Originally a set of eight magic lantern slides accompanied the booklet.

The Story is of Aladdin, a likeable larrikin. Outwitting an evil magician Aladdin obtains a magic ring and lamp and through their use wins the princess of Pekin (sic) as his bride. Through subterfuge the evil magician gains the magic lamp and transports both Aladdin's bride and his palace to Africa. The magician is eventually killed and Aladdin and his bride return to China where they live happily ever after.

This booklet is part of the Francis Collection of pre-cinematic apparatus and ephemera, acquired by the Australian and Victorian Governments in 1975.
