Horse brass depicting a swan sitting at rest. Circular inner border. Fourteen perforations and a crenate outer edge. Type: cast brass. Date: 1825-1939.
The swan is a symbol of poetic harmony and learning. Its whiteness (in the northern hemisphere), strength and grace was regarded as a living manifestation of light.
