Summary
Martingale harness strap with three horse brasses and thirty- two trim studs around the outer edge, a buckle at the top and a strap loop at the back.
The brasses from top to bottom are
1. Design: sun disc with raised circle and perforated scalloped border. Disc missing. Type: pressed nickel alloy.
2. Design: lion passant surrounded by geometric patterns of semi circles and rectangles. Type: cast nickel alloy.
3. Design: lion passant (identical with 2.). Type: pressed nickel alloy.
Comments: leather backing the brasses is separate to the attachment strap and is of double thickness. The top brass is attached correctly. The second brass is bolted to the top one and the third brass is wired to the second one.
Date: 1825-1939.
