Summary
Gents pocket watch, gilt pair case, mid 19th century.
Said by donor to have been carried in the siege of Lucknow during the Indian Rebellion, 1857.
Physical Description
Gilt pair case. Outer case has open front & glass back. Inner case decorated front and back with circles of pearls. Back once covered with blue enamel, but now mostly chipped off. White enamel dial has roman numerals and centre sweep hand which can be stopped by small lever in back of case that presses a light arm against the balance wheel. Key wound spring; cylinder escapement. Key has blue enamel insert.
