Summary
Four unused halfpenny English stamps on a card. The inscription indicates they were saved from troop transport 'Arcadian', torpedoed and sunk during World War I, on 15 April 1917, en route from Salonika to Alexandria. The ship sank in five minutes, and 298 men and 28 officers drowned of the approximately 1,335 troops and crew on board.
