Wood-framed bandage winder with metal spindles and wooden handle.

The provenance of the bandage winder is unknown. It was donated to the National Museum of Victoria on a date unknown, and transferred to the Science Museum of Victoria in July 1965. It is similar in appearance to bandage winders used in World War I, when nursing staff would wind washed bandages in preparation for re-use.

Physical Description

Wooden framework 400 mm. long x 260 mm high. Has three horizontal metal spindles through it. Middle one rotates by turning a handle.
