Summary
Stella brand mechanical music machine with 30 discs made by Mermod Freres in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland in 1885. This particular machine is Swiss made with a British patent (patent dates range from 22nd September 1885 to 29 June 1897) it is possible the mechanism was made in Switzerland and the box was made in the United Kingdom. Stella music boxes used a star wheels moved by the holes in the smooth disc and not by protrusions of metal, making the discs less fragile and easier to store.
Physical Description
Wooden box with winding handle at right end. Levers stop play and moderator fast/slow. It has 30 discs of 35.5cm stored in a drawer in the base.
