This wax model is based on a specimen grown and presented to the museum by Thomas Megan of Kew, 1873. The model was made in the museum. The model maker was not recorded. See also Reg Item 013560.
Synonym: Red ingestrie. This apple is a cider variety and is harvested in autumn. Thomas Andrew Knight raised Red Ingestrie, Dounton Pippin and Grange Apple all from seed of Orange Pippin and pollen of Golden Pippin. Red Ingestrie was planted at Wormsley Grange, Herefordshire and named after the seat of Earl Talbot in Staffordshire.
