Summary
Apple IIe microprocessor computer system with single 5 and 1/4 inch floppy disc drive. The case was designed to allow the monitor to sit on top of it. The case is beige , made of plastic, with a QWERTY keyboard and reset button. It used a 6502 microprocessor chip, with 64 kilobytes of memory standard.
This was the Apple successor to the wildly successful Apple II+.
Made by Apple Corporation in the United States of America in 1984.
The improved circuitry (allowing greater screen resolution) was designed to make this a computer more suitable for the business world than its predecessors, the apple II and II+. This was only partly successful - the number of characters on the screen horizontally (40 standard, 80 with some hardware/software combinations) was only marginally adequate in readability. However, as a home/games machine, it built upon earlier successes and made a fortune for third-party software suppliers.
