French sword, made in the 17th century. Single edged blade, brass pommel and wood grip.
Transferred to National Museum of Victoria from the National Gallery of Victoria in 1939.
Physical Description
Single edged blade 30 1/2 inches long, with flat back and deep wide fuller. Brass pommel, knuckle bow and shells, wood grip. Fine, seemingly hand engraved markings on blade featuring leaves, wreath, posy?, cannon?, archway and other unidentified symbols.
