Brochure 'Day Tours Around Sydney', published by Pioneer Tours, 1949. In 1904 Albert Arthur Withers, came to Melbourne with dreams of providing the public with a spin in a motor car. He hired his first vehicle in 1905, using the name Pioneer, and eventually established Pioneer Tourist Coaches Pty. He obtained his first fleet of charabanc coaches in 1911, and went on to develop a multi-vehicle company that gradually covered all of Australia.
