Summary
Printed World War I Christmas card with cover illustration of two soldiers eating, featuring artwork by Bernie Bragg. The front of card also features the Rising Sun badge and colour patches. It was probably printed in 1918, as it states 'may 1919 see us all together home'. It includes dates 1916 and 1917 , referring to years spent fighting in France.
Bernie Bragg was an Australian illustrator, cartoonist and commercial artist. He fought in France during World War I and also designed a medallion for the British Expeditionary Forces. On his return to Australia he took up freelance illustration work. His paintings and drawings appeared in newspapers, magazines and on film posters during the 1930s, 40s and 50s. He later won a story writing and art work competition run by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
