Group portrait of five Australian servicemen, 24th. Battalion, AIF, World War I.
Having survived the dangerous conditions of the Gallipoli campaign, many servicemen were re-assigned, after a brief furlogh, to the Western Front. This group of soldiers recouperated in Cairo, Egypt, before being deployed with the 2nd Division to France from early March, 1916, to endure the Somme Offensive.
