Summary
Radiolette model 24, mantel receiver, manufactured by Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia) Ltd, released in 1934.
This radio sold for about £14. This item has four valves, it should have 5 valves.
Superheterodyne technology, invented in 1918, enabled the listener to tune a signal precisely and separate it from other signals with similar wavelengths. As more and more stations came on air, tuning with receivers without this technology became more and more difficult due to overlapping station wavelengths, especially at night. The first superheterodyne to be made by AWA, was the model C104, released in 1933.
Physical Description
