This wax model was based on a specimen grown and presented to the museum by Charles Draper of Hazelglen in 1875. This model was made by museum artist Thomas McMillan in 1875 for display at the 1876 Centennial International Exhibition, Philadelphia.
This apple is a dessert variety and is harvested in late winter.
