This wax model was based on a specimen grown and presented to the museum by John Smith & Sons, nurserymen of Riddells Creek, in 1875. The model was made in the museum by Thomas McMillan for the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition of 1876.
This apple is a cooking variety and is harvested in autumn-winter.
