The photograph appears to be associated with the service of Charles Washburn Joyce, service # 1082. He was formerly an English farm-hand, and embarked 19 October 1914, at the age of 20. He was part of the Gallipoli landings on 25 April 1915, and later served on the Western Front. He was wounded several times but survived the war, returning to Australia in December 1918.
