Summary
This experimental model is fitted with a 'combination rig' designed by Captain Christopher Welch of Port Chalmers in New Zealand. This rig was never used on a full-sized vessel. It featured two masts near the centre of the hull. Model was built between 1861 and 1873. This is not a model of the vessel 'Samuel Plimsoll' built in 1873. This model was donated to the Museum in 1888.
