Summary

This 1:30 scale model is painted in a silver scheme with black anti-glare panel and post-war roundels. It carries the serial number A46-47 which represents a Boomerang which served with 83 Squadron RAAF and 2 OTU. The paint scheme is not representative of the appearance of Boomerangs used by the RAAF which were camouflaged and carried wartime blue and white RAAF roundels. The Museum acquired the model from the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation in 1954 at the conclusion of the 'Jubilee of Flight' exhibition at the former Science Museum of Victoria in 1953-54. It had been loaned to the Museum for the exhibition but was then donated by CAC Manager Sir Lawrence Wackett. It is apparently a factory model used for promotional or display purposes.
