Summary

Submarine made from recycled ammunition. This piece of trench art is believed to have been made by Corporal William Young, 22 Batallion, who was captured by the Germans in France on 29 July 1918. He was repatriated to England on 14 December 1918.

Physical Description

Model submarine made from two cartridges, a copper sheet from a shell case and a driving band. It has a central conning tower with radar (wire) and large fin underneath (representing under-water body) with a propellor cut-away. It is mounted on a rectangular base.
