Summary
Pratt & Whitney designed 'single-row' Wasp geared radial aero engine, Type R-1340-S1H1-G, manufactured in Australia by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC), with the manufacturer's serial number 8003. It was donated to the Museum by the Royal Australian Air Force, in 1947.
The engine was subsequently sectioned by an external constractor for the Air Transport display in McArthur Hall that opened in March 1970 as part of the Museum's centenary celebrations,
