Summary

Mantel calendar clock, ebonised rectangular wooden case, with 3 spaces for day, date and month, Made by Antoine Redier, Paris, circa 1870s.

The clock originally belonged to Francis Henty (1815-1889), pioneer settler in Portland in 1834. The clock was apparently passed on to Francis Henty's youngest daughter, Mrs John Hindson, and then to her daughter Miss W. Hindson, Studley Park Road, Kew.

Physical Description

Black rectangular wooden case. White dial has black roman numerals with 3 spaces below dial for day, date and month: day on single roller, date on strip running horizontally, month on roll that runs vertically. The day and date change automatically and the month is changed manually. Spring wound; pin pallet and pendulum escapement. Clock is wound for a month.
