Summary

Unigraphics II CAD Graphics Workstation, comprising Microvax II minicomputer, dedicated hardware vector processing unit, monochrome text monitor, big colour graphics monitor and 2 keyboards. Bought about 1985, in use until early 1995. Used for CAD (computer aided design) of plastic mouldings for "Frank Hook Plastics" (now "Hook Plastics") made by Mcdonnell Douglas Automation Company, about 1984, in the United States of America.

Physical Description

Vector Processing Unit: Large beige rectangular metal box on castors, with mains cord, and four connecting cables (in protective sheath) for video signal. Microcomputer: Large beige rectangular metal box on castors. Front panel has opening for DLT (Digital Linear Tape) data cartridge. "Dumb" terminal: with 30cm Cathode Ray Tube on swivel base. Case is plastic and beige in colour. Power, data and keyboard connectors on rear with power switch and brightness control on lower right side. Monitor (1 of 2): Large square beige metal cabinet with 20-inch cathode ray picture tube with brown bezel. User controls at lower left front corner, connections on the rear panel. Monitor (2 of 2): Beige plastic case with black bezel around cathode ray picture tube. Five data connectors on rear panel. Outside of side panels have horizontal green, red and blue stripes as part of the Mcdonnell Douglas logo Plastic Hood: Beige coloured hood which fits over graphics workstation display monitor. Inside has four ball-bearing rails which the monitor would be attached to. Front, rear and bottom are open. Top of front opening as metal bracket for locking monitor in place. Keyboard with Joystick: Beige plastic case with two sets of keypads and joystick. Keyboard: Beige coloured plastic case with dark brown alpha numeric keys, in a standard QWERTY pattern. Connecting cable emerges from rear panel and terminated in DB-15 connector. QWERTY keyboard: for Facit Video Display Terminal. Case is plastic and beige in colour. Alphabetic keys with separate cursor keys and numeric keypad. Curly cable protrudes from left corner, terminated in RJ11 modular connector. Power Cables (x 4) Connector Cable
