Flip-up front to expose keyboard, disc drives and LCD. Model 5140. 240 volt mains powered. Made by IBM. In United States of America in 1986. One of the first I.B.M. portable computers to arrive in Australia.
Uses 80C88 CMOS microprocessor. Screen display is 80 by 25 text or up to 640 by 200 monochrome EGA (Enhanced Graphics Adaptor) graphics. LCD display can be unclipped to expose connection for external monitor.
Physical Description
Grey plastic microcomputer with full size QWERTY keyboard, fold up 11¼ inch liquid crystal display (LCD), two 3½ inch disc drives, clip-to-back thermal printer and power pack (240 volt mains powered). With 640 kilobytes of RAM, the computer uses an 80C88 CMOS microprocessor. The screen display is 80 by 25 text or up to 640 by 200 monochrome E.G.A. Graphics (Enhanced Graphics Adaptor). Flip-up front on computer exposes keyboard, disc drives and LCD display. LCD display can be unclipped to expose connection for VDU monitor. Retractable carry handle at front.
