Cabinet maker Alfred Wright made this model during the 1930s Depression. It was used by his children and grandchildren at the family home in Cowper Street, St Kilda.
Physical Description
The lift cabin is contained within a wooden shaft with opaque glass windows. The shaft has 3 'floors', each with a door that can be slid open. The lift cabin contains a seat and a mirrored rear wall. The cabin operates on a counter weight and can go to any floor. A detachable handle is used to wind up the weight and operate the model.
