Longcase clock, England, early 18th century. Movement probably early 18th century, and dial altered to conform with early 18th century style.
Purchased as an antique from Anthony Hordern & Sons, Sydney, for 35 pounds in 1929. Prior to this clock was owned by Australian architect and author William Hardy Wilson.
Physical Description
Flat top oak case with three quarter columns at sides. Square door decorated with marquetry. Square dial; cherubs, crown, and foliage on metal in spandrels. Brass chapter ring with hours in floral motifs. Single hand. Weight driven; verge escapement.
