Percussion pistol, cal. 22 mm. (at muzzle). Made in Belgium, circa 1850.
A cheap cast steel pistol popular with gold diggers during the gold rush period. For this reason they are known as "miners pistols" in Australia.
Physical Description
Muzzle loading, smooth bore, cannon shaped barrel 102 mm. long, belled at the muzzle. Box lock with central hammer, oval steel trigger guard, flat wooden grip.
