Summary

This glazed ornamental wall tile was manufactured at Minton's China Works in Stoke-on-Trent, England, after a design attributed to Christopher Dresser. It was exhibited by Minton Hollins & Co at the 1880 Melbourne International Exhibition; the company was awarded a gold medal for its display of 'Tiles, Encaustic, Plain and Artistic'.

Earthenware tile, with black underglaze, decorated with a design of bight blue storks in flight above lapping waves in front of a full moon.
