200 Volt, 1500 Watt, gas-filled (argon), tungsten filament Osram lamp. Made by General Electric Company Ltd, England.
The name 'Osram' was trademarked in 1906 and is a contraction of osmium and wolfram (also known as tungsten). These two elements were used in the manufacture of the metal filaments for early electric lamps. In 1913, Irving Langmuir discovered that inert gas filled globes were more luminous and reduced blackening of the inside of the globe.
Physical Description
520 mm (21.5 inch) circumference glass globe with exhaust pip. Coiled tungsten filament zig-zagged in a ring-shape on top of support wires (spaced with disc). Copper wire attached as a hanger to the Edison screw cap. Single pin contact.
