Techtron Appliances Electro Convulsive Therapy (E.C.T.) unit in wooden/leatherette carrying case. Mains powered. Made in Australia circa 1960. For administering electrical shocks to psychiatric patients.

The unit contains a control panel with two meters, one for measuring electrode resistance (and hence relaible connection) and the other for measuring applied voltage (up to 200 volt). A telephone dial is used for controlling number of pulses. A large neon indicator was probably used for voltage monitoring.

Physical Description

Leatherette-covered box with handle, with hinged lid and single silver-coloured latch. The case stands on four small black feet. Inside the case is the control panel featuring two meters, one for measuring electrode resistance and the other for measuring applied voltage (up to 200 volt). A telephone dial is used for controlling number of pulses. Large neon indicator is probably used for voltage control. There are two black knobs and a gold switch.
