Summary
Remote cut-off pentode designed for use as a radio frequency (RF) or intermediate frequency (IF) amplifier in radio receivers with automatic volume control (AVC). 4.0 volt indirectly heated cathode.
The pentode replaced the screen grid (tetrode) valve for use as a radio frequency amplifier in about 1932. It had the advantage of higher plate resistance and more satisfactory operation when the anode voltage falls below the screen voltage.
Physical Description
Conical glass bulb with screw type top cap, sectioned so that the internal structure of an indirectly heated pentode valve with a mesh anode can be seen. American style 7 pin base mounted on display block.
