Summary

Tetrode used as an RF amplifier and anode-bend detector in early AC mains powered radios. Also occasionally used as an oscillator making use of the negative plate resistance obtained by operating with the plate voltage less than the screen voltage, sometimes called the 'negatron' circuit.

The brand name 'Ken-Rad' was used during the war years on valves manufactured by AWV but marketed by Tecnico Ltd. (formerly E.T.C. Industries Pty. Ltd.). Until late 1941 E.T.C. Industries were importing Ken-Rad valves from the United States but after that they were selling the locally made ones branded Ken-Rad.
