Summary
Minifon P55 wire recorder made by Protona GmbH in Germany, circa 1955.
The Minifon was small and compact, and could be used as a dictaphone or, due to its discreet size, for undercover operations. Wire recorders enjoyed only short-lived success before being superseded by the more practical and manageable magnetic tape technologies that entered the audio market.
Physical Description
Cream painted metal case. Hinge lid. Four labelled cream buttons at end. Plug holes either side.
