Summary

Octagonal brass equatorial sundial, made by Johann Nepomuk Schrettegger (1764-1843), Augsburg, Germany, circa 1820.

Physical Description

Needle gnomon from centre of circle that is calibrated in roman numerals to show hours for northern hemisphere. Circle hinged to octagonal base. Quadrant scale calibrated in degrees from vertical to horizontal using arabic numerals. Upper surface engraved with floral design. Compass recessed in base.
