This was a fabulous win of Opperman's - outperforming other riders to crowds at each passing town. Some of Oppy's competitors were R. Johnson, Cecil Lindus, P.J. Hird, J. Harrington, F. Thomas, W. Crowther and more. This was a race that cemented Opperman's popularity, and as a world-class endurance cyclist.

Areas in the race included: Moss Vale, Mittagong, Paddy's River, Bargo Brush, Bargo River, Bowral, Picton, Mittagong, Gib Hill, Razorback Mountain, Camden, Kenny Hill, Cottage Hill, Liverpool, Warwick Farm Racecourse, Lansdowne Hill and Broadway.
