Oppy was up against 154 other riders (down from the expected 211 due to bad weather the day before) and once again achieved the fastest time. He was in a scratch division alongside rival J. Beasley who later dropped out of the race.

10,000 spectators watched the end of the race, which was won by L. Ensiedel.
