This 312 mile (502 km) race began at the Princess Theatre, Brisbane Street, Launceston at1pm. It was also broadcast on radio from Launceston, Latrobe and Burnie by Tasmanian Broadcasters Pty. Ltd.
Opperman made a new record, finishing at a time of 15 hours, 8 minutes and 48 seconds. Footage from the race appeared at the Price of Wales Theatre.
