Summary
Earthenware with inlaid decoration (encaustic) ornamental wall tile made by the Campbell Brick & Tile Co. in Stoke-on-Trent, England. It is a reproduction of an English mediaeval Tile. It was exhibited at the 1800 Melbourne International Exhibition.
Physical Description
Earthenware with inlaid decoration. Reddish-brown background, with designs pressed into the tile and coloured yellow with a clay slip. In the top left hand corner are two dogs. A bird is in the lower right hand corner. While the top right and lower left hand corners have a conventional stylized design of a diamond, inside of which there is a circle and an eight pointed shape which ends alternately in clubs and leaves.
